UP THE MEKONG
Day 1: Arrival Vientiane (--/--/--)On arrival in Wattay Airport, yLaos Archou are met and transferred to hotel. Visiting the Wat Sisaket with thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. Visiting That Luang Stupa and the imposing Patuxai Monument, which is well known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph. Overnight in Vientiane.
Day 2. Vientiane - Luang Prabang (B/--/--)
Boarding a flight to Luang Prabang - the Old Capital of Laos. On arrival, we visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham. We then climb up to the top of Phousi Mount for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as a beautiful sunset view of the city and the Mekong River. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 3: Khouangsi Waterfalls Kuangsi Waterfall (B/--/--)
Visiting the National Museum at the former Royal Palace, which displays a lovely collection of the artifacts reflecting the rihness of Lao culture dating from the days of the early kings right throughthe last sovereign, and the Central Market are not to be missed. We drive to Ban Hmong hill tribe at Ban Nam Ouay, a lowland Lao at Ban Ou, a village that boasts its cotton production and Ban Thapene. Visiting the beautiful Khouangsi Waterfalls. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 4: Pak Ou Cave – Pakbeng (B/--/--)
We will take a cruise upstream on the Mekong River which also gives us a beautiful view of the tranquil countryside as well as an interesting visit to the mysterious of Pak Ou Caves, crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes. Along the way, we stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where they make the local rice wine. We then continue our boat trip to the riverside town of Pakbeng. Overnight in Pakbeng.
Day 5: Pakbeng – Houei Say (B/--/--)
We will visit the local marPakbengket where many hill tribe people converge from the outlying valleys and hillsides to sell their goods and buy provision. Upon leaving Pakbeng, we re-embark on our boat for the second leg of our journey toward HoueiSay, which is close to the famous Golden Triangle. Overnight in HoueiSay.
Day 6: Houei Say – Thailand (B/--/--)
After an enjoyable visit to the Lu hill tribe people at Ban Namkeung, we take a short drive to the border gate for Chiang Khong (Thai land). End of the tour.
